Please read this page in it's entirety as it is important for the continued use of Amusement Club
This is a quick introduction and guide for the new command system that is being released with the next bot update sometime in April. Slash commands are a new command system that replaces any and all prefixes currently being used. You will no longer be able to use the bot using any custom prefix you may have set, or via the default ->
prefix. Shortly after the update, you will receive a message telling you about the transition if you still attempt to use them, and then in May the bot will stop replying at all.
Slash commands are being forced upon all verified bots that do not absolutely need access to message content (the part where you say ->bal
). And on April 30th, they are shutting down any bot's access to it that has not been granted permissions. Amusement Club does nothing with message data besides read for commands, and as such we do not qualify to receive the permission intent. On April 30th Amusement Club will be unable to read any messages not sent as a slash command.
The good news: Slash Commands are, in my opinion, really user friendly as it has allowed me to put notes into all of them on what options exist, what they are, and what they do.
The bad news: If you are reading this as it is released, you are likely used to our current command style with aliasing/shorthand commands. Discord limits the amount of commands a bot is allowed to have, and so you are now forced to re-learn command names. There is effectively nothing I could have done about this without severely limiting any future content that may make it in.
Now on to actually how to use them, to start you can just type /
into your chat box and Discord will start to display all the slash commands available. If you are reading this prior to Bort release, these do not exist for Amusement Club yet. Here is an example though of what you will see when they are launched.
I am currently in a beta build of what Discord calls Slate-2, so some of what you are about to see may not exactly match your client. But this is what it will look like to use a command like /claim cards
, or as you know it currently ->cl
Take note of the text box displaying +4 options, by default you can run the command as you see there, and it will claim a single card, but the options extend/replace some of the command aliases you currently know.
As you can see, some input validation is done on Discord's side. Until you actually press enter and see an "Amusement Club is thinking" or something of the like, everything is handled by Discord. These "options" are sometimes required, sometimes optional. Most of the documentation here on this site has already been updated to list the new slash commands, their required and optional options, and a small example of what they mean.
The ->help
and /help
commands are being removed in Bort in favor of this documentation site due to the increased need for some semblance of nicety. Using the commands in bort will only provide a response with a link to either the related help page if it could find one, or to the main page.
->baka
and ->guild set prefix
have both been removed
-f
as a confirmation bypass has been removed for now as well. This may come back in another form later on.
